Date of Birth 02/08/1882 at Eberts, ON.  Married to Stella Margarita, Oliver, the father of Murray Edmund Oliver (age 3 yrs.) the son of George and Rhoda Elizabeth 0f 156 Joseph St., Chatham, ON. He was the Principal  at St. Andrew’s Theological College in Saskatoon, Sask. He and Stella were living at 859 University Drive, Saskatoon, Sask. She would move to 704 Logan Ave., Toronto, ON.  He had been at C.O.T.C. Attestation: 19/09/1916 at Camp Hughes, Manitoba. He would go overseas as a Chaplin and would be the founder of the University of Vimy Ridge (also known as “Khaki University” for Canadians serving in France.

He had been at Active Militia – C.O.T.C. at Camp Hughes, Man. 30/05/1916.  Attestation: 19/09/1916 at Camp Hughes, Manitoba. Considered “Fit”, 19/09/16 at Camp Hughes – Chaplin Services.   He would go overseas sailing from Halifax aboard the S.S. Southland 31/10/16 Arrived at Liverpool, England – 11/11/16. He would be a Captain (CHP.) with the rank of Captain, 30/05/16. 31/17/16 to the 19th Res. Bn. – Seaford. TOS 1/10/17 – 28/05/17, SOS – Bramshott 19th Res. TOS – TO 19TH BATT. 12/08/18 CHP. London, England 4/09/17. Assigned Pay of $ 35.00 

9/11/18 Joined Corps.  3/05/19 Cdn. Cps. Md. – Qrs: Ceasers to be attached as in W. E. to C. G. B. D., B213 and Temp: Cdn. Cps HQ – QRS. ON Proceeding,  D. O. No. 23 1919 to England for Debob and Posted to Gen. Depot- Witley 2/05/19 – Capt for Off. i/c.  

31/05/19 – Embarked for Canada 22/08/19 – Hon. Lt. Col. 13/06/19 in Canada – 4/07/19 – MHO. – Ottawa 21/06/19. Hon. Lt. Col. :- Weight: 203 #, 5’ 9 ½”, Eyes: Gray, Vision 6/9 – Hearing 20/20. Examined at 23/05/19 @ 13 Berners – Hon. Lieut. Colonel – for service in England and France.

After the war he would become a Fellow of the Royal Society of Canada, published a number of studies on classical history. He was the first President of the Saskatchewan Conference of the United Church in 1925, later serving as Moderator of the United Church of Canada from 1930 – 32.
