Born 20/02/1911 at Monikie, Forfarshire, Scotland.

Joseph enlisted in the 1st Kent Regt. 30/10/1940 in Chatham, ON. The husband of Mrs. Boyd Norrie.

It is unclear what regiment he went overseas with, either the Highland Light Infantry or the Royal Canadian Regt. But since he returned and was discharged from Wosley Barracks, London, ON., 5/09/1945, which is the home of the RCR, he likely went oversea in a draft of the H.L.I.

Private Norrie was stationed in London, Halifax, Niagara Falls and New Westminster, B.C. with the 1st Kents. Proceeding overseas on April 1942. he was attached to the H. L. I. of Canada. He was sent to Africa June 1943 and has seen action in Sicily and Italy with the R.C.R.’s. Transferred to the European Theatre of War and served in France, Belgium and Holland and Germany. Received the usual Campaign ribbons.

Date of Discharge: September 5th, 1945
