Born 26/03/1925, son of Will and Mildred Nolan, of 506 Nelson St., Wallaceburg, Ontario. Bill was working at the Wallaceburg Brass Co. prior to the war.
Bill enlisted with the 2nd Kent Regt. in 1942 A47231, training in Chatham, London and Camp Ipperwash, ON service No. A808159 1stCoy. 3 Plt. The WN 30/12/43 reported William was home on a weekend leave from Camp Ipperwash. He transferred to the Royal Winnipeg Rifles for active service overseas A110013 and then to the Highland Light Infantry. The WN 20/04/44 reported Rflmn. Nolan was spending his furlough, he had been very ill and was recovering “very nicely”. He went overseas 8/05/1944.
As a result of enemy fire in the battle for Marcelet, near the city of Caen at the age of 19 years, he was KIA – Date of Death: 04/07/1944, in France.
