The son of John Baptist and Margaret Noah of Chatham. His Next of Kin: his wife Lizzie Noah, at the time of his enlistment was living at R.R. #3, Thamesville,ON. They had two sons: Orloff Malven age 9 yrs. and Allan Harold age 5 yrs. 3/10/1916.
Arthur was living in Cayuga, ON. where he was a barber. Attestation 23/03/1916 at Cayuga to the 114th overseas Batt.
Arthur went overseas aboard the S.S. Caronia arriving in Liverpool 11/11/1916. He was transferred to the 36th Batt at West Sandling and then to France arriving 18/05/17 taken on by the 107th Batt.
While serving in action he was admitted to the 10th Field Ambulance 19/08/1918 suffering from a “Barb-wire” injury with the wire wound around his foot and left leg.
He was to spend much of the last part of the war in various hospitals Canadian General Hospital – Estaples 16/09/17, Earl Sussex Hospital 22/09/17, Old Hasting House – Hastings 11/10/17, 14th Canadian general Hospital – East Bourne 7/01/18, Bushy Park 18/02/18. He sailed to Canada aboard the S.S. Northland arriving at Halifax 25/12/18.
He was before a Medical Board 17/01/1919 in Canada after a bout of Nephritis. the result of which he was declared “Medically Unfit” 23//01/1919. His discharge certificate credited his service for England and France he was 37 years old. Arthur was discharges from the CEF 23/01/1919.
