Born July 7, 1920 at Glenwood, the son of Grace Mildred and Chester Nicholson of Wilson Ave. or 132 Richmond St., Chatham, the brother of Louis, Vern, Ralph and one sister Mrs. George Owen of Chatham.  

James enlisted 28/07/40 with the Kent Regt.  He served on the east coast of Canada, Niagara-on-the-Lake and in British Columbia. It was while serving with the Kents that he sustained a head injury in a motorcycle accident.  The CDN 4/02/43 reported that he had recently an operation at Prince George, BC. He had arrived home to spend on sick leave with his parents on Wilson Avenue.  Much of his service was on the west coast.

After being discharged in 1944, The CDN 4/10/44 reported that James married Margaret (nee Campbell), she was a Registered Nurse the daughter of Russell  Campbell of Merlin, ON., they had two children Sharron and Jimmie. James became a licensed mechanic and metal finisher, and the family moved to Windsor, ON.

James died in January 25, 1953 still suffering from the head injury he received 11 years ago with the Kents. He died at Grace Hospital at the age of 32 years.  He was buried in Shanks Cemetery in Port Alma, ON.
