Pte. Ross R. Nichols left Canada with the 70th Battalion in April 1916, for overseas. He was transferred to the 39th Battalion and later to the 21st Battalion, proceeding to France September 11th, 1916. At Vimy Ridge, April 9th, 1917, he received wounds, and was returned to England being admitted to Holburn Military Hospital. Upon recovery he continued training at Seaford.
