The son of Mr. and Mrs. Albert Newcombe, living near Blenheim. His wife and baby daughter Joan were living at 110 Park Ave. West, Chatham, ON. Prior to enlistment in the army Wesley was a postal clerk in Chatham.
The CDN reported that Wesley, his wife and daughter were dinner guests at the 35th Wedding Anniversary of Mr. and Mrs. Albert Newcombe.
Pte. Newcombe enlisted in March of 1944, trained at No. 12 BTC., Chatham, ON., Ipperwash and Debert, NS. along with brother Murray Wesley and his wife were visiting their parents while on leave from Camp Ipperwash . CDN 21/06/44. and Derbert, NS. He was reported going overseas 2/01/1945. CDN 2/01/45(P).
Previous Military Experience: Trained with the 2nd Kent Regiment for eighteen Months.
Private Newcombe served overseas after training at Chatham, Ipperwash and Debert along with brother Murray Wesley and his wife were visiting their parents while on leave from Camp Ipperwash CDN 21/06/44
He was reported going overseas 2/01/1944. CDN 2/01/45(P). He served in England, Italy, France Belgium and Holland. While in Holland, he was wounded in Holland and hospitalized for several weeks there with chest wounds.
