After enlistment, Private Neilson was transferred to the R.C.A.F. in May 1944 (Aircrew). He trained in Toronto and Pennfield Ridge, N. B. Discharged from R.C.A.F. due to demobilization of Air Crew.
Joined the Canadian Army February 6th 1945 reporting to London, Ont. Stationed at London for one month then posted to #12 B.T.C. Chatham.
