Unit # RCAF

Born 5 July, 1923, in Detroit, Michigan; the son of George Frederick and and Bertha May (nee Henry). The family moved to Canada in 1928, after his father died. They settled in Clearville where George went to school and grew up.

He enlisted in the RCAF in 1943. He trained in red Dear, Alberta and was sent overseas, stationed at Torquay, England. He served there until his Honourable discharge 16 December, 1945.

After he returned to Canada he began farming in Clearville. Married to Nancy (nee Mandryck) they had a daughter Shirley (Mazzola) and a son George Henry.

Georges maternal grandfather was Col. George Henry who started a grist mill on Lake Erie. His great –uncle Philip Henry was a MLA and Mayor of Ridgetown, Henry Street is named after him.

George passed away in May, 2015 and a memorial service was held at Greenwood Cemetery, Ridgetown.
