From Wallaceburg, ON.  The son of Mr. and Mrs. Bernard Murphy of Selkirk St., Wallaceburg. The Brother Edward MIA in Italy since 14 January 1944 and WO1 Patrick, RCAF reported MIA WN 25/05/44.  

He appears in a photograph of 27 Navy recruits from HMCS Hunter about to leave Windsor for PEI., for additional training in November of 1942. [for photo see REID, Robert James.].  Ordinary Seaman Bernard was home on a Christmas leave. He was reported returning to the east coast to continue his training.

The CDN 2/05/44 reported that Bernard had been serving in the Navy for two years. The article went on to say his elder brother Edward Toles had been reported missing in Italy since 14 January, 1944.  

The WN 27/01/44 reported that OS. Murphy was aboard HMCS Kentville at Halifax NS.
