Born in Ireland, in 1920 the son of Mary ‘Mina’ Jane (Reynolds) and Thomas Mullaly, who immigrated to Canada in 1927. Prior to enlistment Jim was living at 11 Park View Apartments, Chatham, ON.

James enlisted at sixteen 9/08/1940 with the First Kents and served as a dispatch rider. He transferred July 18th, 1941 to the 1st Canadian Army Tank Ord. Field Park R.C.O.C. Went overseas before Xmas 1941.

He served four and a half years of active service to his credit, three and half of them overseas. He served in England, saw action in North Africa with the British 8th Army and Sicily, Italy. He was reported as wounded in CDN 25/01/45, while in Italy. After recoverying he continued to fight in France, Belgium, Holland and finally Germany. He was honourably discharged 3/11/1945.

Jim married Mary (nee Elliot) the daughter of William and Sarah, he was the father of Catherine Patricia (Fleming) CDN 16/04/51, Dennis James CDN 25/10/52, Tomas William CDN 22/08/55, Bill and Mary Jane.

James passed away Friday, 26/11/1999 age 79 years, internment St. Anthony’s Cemetery. CDN 27/11/99.
