Son of William Edgar and Margaret (nee Greeson) Mugridge (Edgar passed in 1940, a veteran of the Great War) Margaret was living at 202 ½ Thames St., (later moved to 33 ½ Dover St.), Chatham. A brother Donald (V81133) was serving in the Pacific aboard HMCS Stadacona, also Herbert and James at home.
William was Married to Olive and they had a home on Sandys Street (later living at 29 ½ Dover St) in Chatham when William, then serving on the west coast with the Kent Regt. (Active) and was home on furlough in end of May,1942. CDN 28/05/42 William enlisted in the 1st Kent Regt. transferring to an ‘active overseas unit’ and went overseas 21 March, 1943, his brother Donald was serving in the Navy. CDN 1/02/45.
The CDN 18/05/43(P) reported his wife receiving notice that her husband was overseas as a replacement.
Served with the Kent Regiment prior to war.
During the war he served with the Kents in Halifax, Terrace, B.C. Niagara Falls and London. Transferred to the Essex Scottish regiment and went overseas.
Casualty lists from D-Day were arriving in the local papers a couple of weeks after the invasion of Normandy on D-Day 6/06/44 William was on the wounded list. His wife Mrs. Olive Mugridge received notification by telegram on Saturday the 17th of June that her husband had been wounded by a shell fragment. CDN 19/06/44. The CDN 21/10/44(P) the husband of Mrs, Mugridge of 29 ½ Dover St. was wounded for a second time while fighting in Belgium. The nature and extent of the wounds had not been revealed.
Reported returned from duty in France and Belgium having been wounded twice, according to family he suffered a shoulder wound, as well as wounds to the left lower leg and left side of the neck. CDN 1/08/45.

William passed away 6 October, 1982 at the age of 60 years of age.
