Private George W. Moss went overseas in September 1914 with the 1st. Contingent proceeding to France with the 1st Battalion, transferring later to the 4th Canadian Labor Battalion. He was promoted to the rank of Lance Corporal, and later to Corporal. He received a gunshot wound in the ankle the latter part of August 1915, returning to England and was admitted to the Canadian Convalescent Hospital, Hastings. He crossed again to France transferring to the No.5 Detachment of the 2nd Canadian Infantry Works Battalion.
