Denis enlisted in December of 1940 he went from the University of Toronto C.O.T.C. as a Lieutenant into the Engineers. He was posted overseas in March 1941. Once in England he was posted to the 11th Field Battery of the RCE. He had been serving in Holland since April of 1945.

He was promoted to Captain reported in the CDN 26/02/45.   Captain Morse was promoted to Major in October of 1945 and given the command of the 8th Field Squadron of the 4th Division.
