Pte. Regimental number: 931679. Reference: RG 150, Accession 1992-93/166, Box: 6391 – 62, Item: 177686, PDF: B6391-SO62. Date of Birth: 15/10/1886. Born in Middlesex Co. ON.  To No.2 Construction Batt. Living in Chatham, ON. at 91 Barry St. Next of Kin: Violina Morris (wife). A carpenter by trade.

Attestation: 23/12/1916 at Chatham, ON., to No.2 Construction Batt. Age 31 yrs. 1 mos. 5’ 4”, complexion: Brown, Eyes: Brown, Hair: Black. The son of Issac Morris of London, ON. His medical history was taken 23/12/16 at Chatham, ON.

Departed 28/03/17 from Halifax aboard the S.S. Southland , arrived in England 7/04/17. Landed in France 17/05/17. 

Pte. John W. Morris went overseas with the No.2 Construction Battalion in March 1917, and after training at Seaford Camp. He arrived in Boulonge, France May 16th, 1917. He served in No.5 District 28th Company, C.F.C.. Later he served in Group Quartermaster Stores, was attached to the 21st Company, and later to No.1 District 54th Company, 42nd Company, 43rd Company, and broke camp December 4th, 1918, After leaving France December 19th he embarked for Canada January 10th, 1919, on the “Olympic”.

He was struck off Strength at Bramshott 19/01/19 Returned to Canada aboard S. S. Olympic 17/01/19. John was granted a furlough with allowance 5/02/19. He was discharged from HMS – demobilization at London, ON. 8/02/1919.

John William Morris passed away 3/11/1921.
