Pte. H.M. Stanley Morris embarked for overseas September 22nd, 1914. While on board ship he fell from his berth, dislocating his knee, and upon arrival at Plymouth, was admitted to Hospital. After recovery he trained at Salisbury until February, 1919, when he proceeded to France. During his experience here Pte. Morris spent considerable time in the trenches, Machine-gun section, transports division, officers’s training school, and also supervising in the Engineers’ division. May 24th, 1915, he received a slight shrapnel wound which kept him from the trenches for several weeks, and later his knee was again dislocated, the lunar cartilage having to be operated on. The condition of his knee kept him from the most dangerous engagements, although he continued in active service.
Discharged April 3rd, 1919.
