The son of Ray and Mable Moore of 265 St. Clair Street, Chatham, ON. Prior to enlisting he was employed by the Chrysler Corporation.

William enlisted in Windsor, ON. with the Essex Scottish during November of 1942. He trained at BTC. No. 12, Chatham and at Camp Ipperwash prior to going overseas. The CDN reported that William was overseas. CDN 20/03/44(P).

Private Moore served in England, and France.  While in France he was seriously wounded and returned to Canada on the hospital ship Letitia.
