Son of James Moody of 16 Millman St., Chelsea, England. Living at 144 Colburn St., Chatham, ON. he is a member of the 24th Kent Regt. in Chatham, single and employed as a harness maker at G. Fielder & Sons, Chatham. Attestation: 18/09/1914 at Valcartier, PQ. to the C.A.M.C.
A small man at only 5’ ½” and almost 33 years old he went overses with the 1st Contingent September 28th, 1914. After training at Salisbury Plains he proceeded to France November 6th, 1914, serving with No.2 Canadian Stationary Hospital nineteen months. While there, he was invalided to England suffering with accidental injuries to the left hip while on duty. He returned to Belgium as stretcher bearer with the 1st Canadian Battalion. In March he was sent to the Discharge Depot at Buxton and returned to Canada in April 1918, marked disability due to service. Private Moody was the recipient of the Mons Star.

Private John Moody received his discharge April 11th, 1918, being medically unfit for further military service.
