Curator’s note: While searching through his full military file there was a listing for “13/07/16 – Hospitalized for 41 days with Measles.” Perhaps the date is wrong?  JRH.

He served in Canada; he never went overseas.

June 3, 1916 He was a patient in the London Hospital (in Canada) for the measles for 41 days
He was recorded as being struck off strength and illegally absent since September 13, 1916.
It appears as though his illness prevented him from serving for a prolonged amount of time – and also prevented him from going overseas.

Discharge: Declared illegally absent – Official date of discharge was September 13, 1916 from London, Ontario.
