DSO A former Wallaceburg boy who won the DSO during the raid at Dieppe in August of 1942. He was reported in the CDN 17/06/44 making a quick trip to Chatham to visit relatives there. Arriving at 15:15 he telephoned to say he was in town for a very short time but relatives made every effort to meet the decorated soldier.
After Dieppe, Lt. Col. McRea served for a considerable time in the Italian theatre.
He was then on his way to Victoria where his wife and daughter resided.
