Born in Tansley, ON., the son of the Rev. J. P. McQuarrie of R. R. #1 Merlin, and brother of William Calvin. Archie was living in Valetta before attending the University of Toronto. He enlisted in Toronto, where he had served for three years with the Queen’s Own Regt. Archie went overseas in March of 1916. He was serving with the 12th Bn. CEF and was with this unit during the Battle of Amiens in August of 1918 when he was awarded the Military Medal. IODE (N).
Sapper Archibald H. McQuarrie went overseas in March 1916, and proceeded to France in July 1916, attached to the 12th. Canadian Infantry Brigade. He remained with that unit until he returned to Canada in June 1919.
Decorations. He was awarded the Military Medal at Battle of Amiens Aug 1918.

Archie McQuarrie Granted a Military Medal
Rev. J. P. McQuarrie of Valetta received word yesterday that his son, Archie had received the Military Medal for this distinguished service at the front, and that another son, Calven, had been wounded and was in hospital.
Discharged June 8th 1919 due to demobilization.
