The son of Mr. R. L and Jean (nee Widdis) McNeil of 11 Delaware, Ave., Chatham.  Bob enlisted with the RCNVR at the age of 17 years.  P.O. McNeil was stationed in London, ON. in May of 1942 when he was reported home on a weekend leave to visit with his parents. CDN 25/05/42. Bob was home again in 1942 stationed in London, ON., he was at his parents home on a Christmas leave. CDN 30/12/42   

The CDN 12/04/43(P) reported that Bob was home on a one-day leave before leaving to join His Majesty’s Canadian ships as a Petty Officer. 

Made several trips across from Halifax.
