After basic training he was stationed in Newfoundland, he was still in Newfoundland in April of 1943 when he returned home on a fourteen day leave. TT 29/04/43. After eighteen months there he went overseas to England, (during the Second World War, Newfoundland was not part of Canada, therefor a posting to ‘the Rock’ was overseas), in June. He was reported to have been wounded
