First Kent Regt. Pte. Jack Mclaren enlisted in 14 August, 1940 with the Kents. of the First Kent Regt. and L/Cpl. Baker and were reported home on a furlough from New Westminister, BC. CDN 21/08/42. Jack was a former employee of the Chatham Daily News.

In November of 1942 he received his corporal stripes.

Served in Canada. Promoted to the rank of Corporal.

The CDN 21/05/43 (P), reported that Jack had arrived from the west coast where he had been stationed since 22 March, 1942 with the Kent regt. (active). “ He had been confined to the Victoria Military Hospital and Royal Jubilee Hospital in Victoria, BC.” Due to his illness he had been given his honourable discharge from the Army.

Discharged May 13th, 1943.
