Gunner James A. McLaren was a member of the Cadet company of Ridgetown Collegiate Institute for two terms.

Gunner James A. McLaren began training with the 63rd Battery June 19th, 1916, at London and Petawawa arriving in England November 4th, 1916. He was stationed at Shorncliffe and Salisbury Plains, proceeding to France March 21st, 1917, attached to the 30th Battery, 8th Brigade of the Canadian Field Artillery.
