 Born 20 Feb.1922, the son of Herman Whitfield and Sarah ‘Jane’ Mcknight of Wallaceburg, ON. The brother of Alvin Douglas A49787 and  Clarence Harold, A59756.

The WN 11/06/42 reported that Pte. McKnight and Cliff Davis, stationed at Kitchener, ON.  He had arrived in Wallaceburg on a week-end leave. While home on leave both both men were presented with wrist watches from their friends.

The WN 1/07/43 reported that Gnr. Gordon McKnight has arrived in England “some months ago”, he was followed in July, 1943 with brother Sgt. Alvin arriving in England.

The WN 23/03/44 reported that Gordon was on ‘Active duty. 

Gordon was serving in Italy 30 March, 1944 as a Gunner with the 8th Cdn. Field S.P. Regt., 107 R Bty, Central Mediterranian Forces.

According to a letter to his mother he was badly injured and was repatriated home and lived with his mother in Port Lambton, ON.  He was employed as a foreman at Ben Foundry in Wallaceburg, ON 

 Married 3 August, 1962 in London, ON. The father of Wayne Robert and Terry Anne Mcknight (Ewing).

Gordon passed away 16 May, 2003 in St. Joseph Hospital, Sarnia, ON., burial at Bear Creek Cemetery, Moore Line, Lambton Co., ON.
