Trained with the 2nd Kent Regiment. Appears on the “Muster Roll” of the 2nd Bn., Kent Regiment (MG), N.P.A.N. (date unknown). Clarence would transfer to the RCNVR as a Stoc.2, V19652.

Took his training at Halifax and was then posted on overseas duty, and took part in the D-Day operations. Served on the H.M.C.S. Uganda and promoted to Leading Stoker. Received the North Atlantic Star and the General Service Medal.

The CDN 15/09/43 reported that John was spending a fourteen day furlough with friends and relatives in Chatham.    

Discharged November 16th, 1945.
