Private John McFadden trained with the 186th Battalion until October 16th, 1916, when he was discharged as medically unfit. He re-enlisted February 6th, 1917, with the 256th Railway Construction Battalion going overseas with this unit, but after five weeks in France he was returned to England, thence to Canada in December 1917, being unfit for service and also over age. #1099739
