Was a member of the 24th Kent Regiment for some time.
After being enlisted in the Medical Corps at Chatham, Ontario September 3rd, 1915 , Girdon McDonald was transferred to London, Ontario to the 33rd Battalion C.E.F. and sailed to England February 1916.
He was trained at Shorncliffe, St. Martins Plains, and West Sandling Camps and then transferred to the 1st Canadian Battalion. He was engaged in the battles of Mount Sarle on the Ypres Front, the Somme Front, Corcelette, Poesierres and the Sugar Refinery engagement.
McDonald was wounded and returned to England September 1916. Returned to Canada November 1918. Received discharge at London, Ontario. December 12th, 1918.
Discharged at M.D.No.1 London, Ontario December 12th, 1918.
