The son of Mrs. C. McDonald of Taylor Ave., Chatham, ON. He attended Taylor Ave. Public School and the Chatham Vocational School Prior to the war Don was employed at the International Harvester Co.
Served in Canada with the Kents from October 1940 to May 1942. Transferred from the Kent Regt. [unkown] to go overseas. Reported wounded in action in May 1944. Served in England, Africa and Italy. CDN 2/06/44. The CDN 1/06/44(P) reported that Pte. Donald McDonald was “slightly wounded” in action in Italy 28/05/44. Confirmed by a cable received by his mother. It was one year to the day he landed in England.
It was reported that Pte. McDonald was returning to rejoin the First Kent Regt. stationed at New Westminister, BC. He had been at his home on Taylor Ave., Chatham while visiting with their daughter Mrs. William Oliver of Windsor. CDN 8/07/42.
Discharged November 1945.
