The CDN 23/07/42 reported that Rifleman McDade was home on leave from Niagara-on-the-Lake.

Went overseas and served in England, Italy, and Africa. Promoted to the rank of Corporal. Wounded in the left thigh and right hand. Suffered the loss of his fifth finger, and was hospitalized in Italy.  Reported wounded in the Kent County Farmers Almanac 19/07/45. Discharged from military service 31/07/1945. CDN 21/08/45.
