Donald was born in Chatham Township on December 14, 1919.  Address at enlistment was Chatham Township.  Enlisted in Sarnia September 14, 1939 with the Royal Canadian Engineers, along with his friend L/Cpl. Bernard Bachynski, A18108.    His wife was Mrs. Jean (Mowers) McCreary (deceased 2009).  Sons Keith and Carl McCreary.  Stepson Ted Courtis, Daughter Donna Bartlett (deceased 2006).

Donald would find himself on the beaches of Dieppe 19/08/42 and made it back safely. Both would spend slightly over five years with No. 1 Field Park Coy. RCE, serving many theatres of war, Continental Europe, Dieppe, France, Belgium, Holland, Germany, they both returned to Wallaceburg together.   Arrived from overseas on S. S. “Louis Pasteur” CDN 1/09/45.
