Unit # RCAF

The son of W. E. McClure of 119 ½ King St. West, Chatham, ON. A former clarinet player with the Chatham Kiltie Band. It was reported in the CDN 3/09/42 that Doug was overseas and was a featured clarinet player in the RCAF band in Great Britain.

Douglas was reported returned to Chatham 22/10/45.

Doug did return to Chatham in 1945 and married Mary Alice Farrell of Park Street.  He reenlisted to the RCAF band during the Korean War and retired in 1964 as a Warrant Officer.  

Doug  then returned to Chatham and we lived on Elizabeth street where I attended and graduated from CKSS.

Following CKSS I enlisted in RCAF as well and became an Air Navigator chasing Russian Submarines around the North Atlantic.
