Private McCalmot went overseas with the 186th battalion Mar. 26 1917 training at Bramshott until Sept. 6, when he proceeded to France attached to the 18th battalion.

He received gunshot wounds in the right arm, causing compound fracture, June 11, which resulted in his death a very short time later.
