George enlisted 20/10/1942 at London, ON and trained at Lachine and Mont Joli, PQ. where he graduated on 8 June, 1943. George arrived overseas 9 Sept. 1943 and completed his operational tour of duty 21 March, 1945.
According to a cable to his parents received 9/09/43 he had arrived overseas. CDN 14/09/43(P)
The CDN 3/12/43 ‘Vosburg’ section reported that Georges’ parents had receive notice that Air Gunner May had recovered and escaped serious injury when the plane in which he was a passenger made a forced landing.
George was hospitalized after being wounded on 7 September of 1944 spending three weeks recovering from his wounds. He did find time while in England to meet an English girl and they have a son who are to join him in Canada as soon as transportation can be arranged. CDN 9/06/45(P)
