Born in Chatham, ON. in 1924, the son of Mr. and Mrs. John Maxwell of Delaware Ave., Chatham, ON. It was reported that AC2 Maxwell was home on a weeks leave from RCAF MacDonald, Manitoba where he was training and where he was presented with his ‘wings”.
The CDN 29/12/43 reported that AC2 Maxwell had returned to Brandon MB. after a week-end with his parents.
Served overseas twenty two months. Flew out of England to the Continent, made six or seven trips and was promoted to the rank of W.O.2. Awarded the Maple Leaf Canadian Medal for overseas duty and the aircrew Medal. After war was over he was flying prisoners of war back to England from a camp Just outside Brussels.
The CDN 15/04/44 reported that Sgt. Maxwell was on a two week furlough with his parents at which time they visited Detroit and Windsor.
The CDN 24/04/44 reported that Jack had been on furlough before leaving for Three Rivers, PQ.
Jack served as a tail-gunner.
Discharged March 18th, 1946.
He passed way 28 June, 2000 and is buried at Maple Leaf Cemetery, Chatham, ON.
