The son of Alice Mawley, of Chatham, ON., the brother of Major William John and John R. Sgt.-Major Mawley was married to Violet Pearl, they had two children Billy and Gale.

Remained with the Kents until January 1945 as an Instructor, and other N.C.O. duties. Was sergeant Major when he went overseas in 1945 to be attached to the 31st Alberts Recce. Regiment. Promoted to the rank of Company Sergeant Major. He is in possession of two rosettes for long service 12, years each. and was awarded the C.V.S.M. and one Clasp the Efficiency Medal and one Clasp and the 1939 to 1945 Star.
He was one of the last remaining ‘original’ men of the Kent Regiment to proceed overseas having been held with the unit for instructional purposes and other NCO duties.
Discharged November 28th, 1945.
