Driver James N. Martin left St. John, N.B. for overseas January 1st, 1916, and was stationed at Witley Camp until February 6th, 1916, when he left for German East Africa, stopping at Cape Verde Islands two days, and Durban, Natal, two days, arriving at Voi, G.E.A., March 18th. After three months service he contracted Enteric Fever, receiving four months treatment in Dar Salem Hospital, and two months in Cape Town Hospital. He returned to Bristol, England, December 11th, 1917, and after two weeks furlough, served at Kempton Park, a base for lorries.
