Private David Martin enlisted with the 70th Battalion February 22nd, 1916, leaving for overseas with that unit April 21st, 1916, he transferred to the 24th Battalion in England, proceeding to France June 29th, 1916. After partaking in several engagements he received severe wounds in the head and right jaw September 19th, 1916; was admitted to hospital in France and returned to England for hospital treatment October 14th, 1916. He left for Canada September 14,1917, receiving hospital treatment in London from October 7th, 1917, to February 3rd, 1918, when he was given his discharge.
Private David Martin received his discharge February 3rd, 1918, being medically unfit for further military service.
