Private George Watson Marshall transferred from the 142nd to the 70th Battalion April 20th, 1916, and left for overseas April 21st, 1916. In July 1916 he was drafted to the 18th. Battalion and in the attack on Courcelette, September 15th, 1916, he received gunshot wounds in the lung and mouth. After hospital treatment in England he was returned to Canada February 23rd, 1917, convalescent.
Private George Watson Marshall received his discharge July 1st, 1917, as medically unfit for further military service. He re-enlisted as Cadet in the R.F.C. February 11th, 1918; transferred to the R.A.F. April 1st, 1918; completed his flying training and was given his discharge January 11th, 1919, as a supernumerary. # 171142
