Private Markey crossed to England with the 70th battalion in Apr. 1916 proceeding to France in Aug, posted to the 18th battalion.
He received hospital treatment three weeks in Jan. 1917 suffering from trench feet, and after joining his unit was promoted to Corporal in Mar. 1917.
Corporal Markey was killed in action May 8, 1917.
