Mardling, Harry David George

 

 

Born 19 March, 1925 at Harwich Twsp., Kent Co., ON.   The son of Harry Joseph and Gertrude Mardling, the brother of WREN Margaret (Brown). The husband of Mary ‘Mae’ (nee McDonald) who resides at 182 William St. South. Harry attended Queen Mary School, the Chatham Collegiate Institute and the Chatham Vocational School. Prior to his enlistment he worked at Chatham Maleable Steel Co.

Harry trained at No. 12 Basic Training Centre in Chatham, Ipperwash and Debert NS. before proceeding overseas.

Served overseas for two years in France, Belgium, Holland and Germany. Also served one year on the German Occupation. Promoted to the rank of Sergeant and was awarded the usual campaign ribbons.

He was serving overseas in Belgium at the age of 19 years old.

Discharged July 19th, 1946.
