Seaman George William Mann served during 1908 – 1909 with the 24th Kent Regiment, Chatham, Ontario.

Seaman George William Mann reported at Halifax January 23rd, 1917, leaving for overseas service February 17th, 1917, and arriving in England February 26th, 1917. He was stationed at Portsmouth Naval Barracks, “Victory” from February 27th. until April 27th, 1917, when he was transferred to the New Haven Naval Base, doing escort duty as Stoker. He was recalled to the Portsmouth Base August 14th, doing dock yard duty until November 10th, when he was transferred to the Shetland Patrol, mine sweeping and doing escort duty along the Norwegian coast. The middle of January 1918 he transferred with his ship to Immingham of the Wallington Patrol, serving until March 18th, 1918, when he was admitted to hospital at Gosport, England, suffering with plural pneumonia. After recovery, May 20th, he was stationed at Devonport Barracks and left for Glasgow June 31st, sailing July 2nd for Halifax on “H.M.S. Berwick”. After a leave of absence he transferred to the Sidney Patrol, serving on the Staff until December 20th, when he returned to Halifax on “H.M.C.S. Hochelega”.

Stoker George William Mann received his discharge January 12th, 1919, due to demobilization.
