Of Chatham, ON Edward was married with two small children residing at 19 Park Ave. West, Chatham. The son of Mrs. Otis Magee of Wallaceburg, ON. He was on the original staff of No.12 BTC,-Chatham.
Enlisted 5/03/42. Andrew received his “Wings” at Camp Borden, ON. 16/01/42. Arrived in England 16/01/1942 he was not reported in the local paper until March of 1942. CDN 5/03/42(P).
In November of 1944 while serving in Holland with the Essex Scottish he was confined to hospital due to blood poisoning and Flu. In a letter to his wife he tel about being bitten by “some kind of insect” while in the front lines. His right hand and arm became infected and an influenza which confined him to hospital in Belgium.
His letter that arrived the date of the article in the CDN 18/11/44 reported that he was about to leave hospital and expected to rejoin his unit soon.
Reported as a POW 13/03/45.
The CDN 28/12/45 reported that he returned to Canada aboard the S. S. Queen Elizabeth. Next of Kin: Mrs. E. C. Magee, 19 Park Ave. West, Chatham, ON.
Served overseas eighteen months in Belgium, Holland and Germany.
Discharged February 12th, 1946.
Edward was reported in the RCL “Last Post” as having passed away 1/01/1985
