Born in 1921, the son of Mr. and Mrs. W. R. Mack of St. George ST., Chatham, ON. The husband of Germaine, they were living in Chatham at 106 West St.

He was working at the Ontario Steel plant when he enlisted in the Perth Regt. 2/03/1942. He went overseas with the Perth’s. He trained in England and saw action in the Italian campaign, also Belgium and Holland serving as a stretcher-bearer.

The CDN 3/12/45 reported that Pte. Malvin Mack who was aboard the S. S. Queen Elizabeth and scheduled to dock in New York would soon be on his way to Chatham, “a particularly happy even will be greeted by his 2 ½ year old son (William Howard) whom he had never seen.”

After settling into civilian life he opened and operated a gas station and did mechanic work at the corner of Park St. and St. George St. in Chatham. He later got a job at the International Harvester Plant on Richmond Street in Chatham and was employed there for 35 years when he took retirement. After William Howard other children came along; Beverly Douglas 1946, James Keith (1948) and finally Gail Marie [Scott] in (1958).

He was discharged from the army 19/01/1946.
