Bill was born in Chatham on July 27, 1925.  His address at Enlistment was 27 Stone Avenue, Chatham, Ontario.

Trained in Saskatchewan, Quebec and at St. Thomas and Toronto. Posted to Goose Bay and served there over a year.

Theatre of Service:  Gander, Newfoundland.

Date of Death:  June 1, 2003.

Bill’s wife Iris writes:  “I met Bill in the fall of 1947 while living in Hamilton.  He and 3 other former servicemen from Chatham were there finishing their high school education.  Bill had quit school during Grade 12 to join the RCAF.  I do not know where he enlisted although a friend suggested it was probably in London.

I do know that he has postings in Winnepeg, Charlottetown, PEI and Gander, Nfd. which was considered overseas at that time.

His favourite pastime was playing the bagpipes and was a member of Branch 28 Royal Canadian Legion Pipe Band for over 40 years.

His counselling report at the time of discharge indicates his chosen career was to be a school principal and when he retired in 1983.  He was Principal of Harwich-Raleigh Public School which was the largest school in Kent County.
