Roy departed Halifax, NS. aboard the S.S. Lapland 24/04/16 and arrived at Liverpool, England 4/05/16. 

11/07/16 TOS at West Sandling to 21^st Batt.. 24/07/16 transferred to Moore Barracks, Shorncliff – suffering from German Measles. Discharged 8/08/16. Transferred to 21^st Batt. 20/10/16.

 

DOW 15/04/1917 at the Battle of Vimy Ridge with 21^st Bn. age 23 years. Treated at No.23 C.C.C. nature of wounds not recorded.  Buried at LaPugnoy Military Cemetery, Pas de Calais, France.

It was reported that Roy’s mother Sarah received his Memorial Cross 25/08/1920
