Regimental number: 2356057. Reference: RG 150, Accession 1992-93/166, Box 5639-24, Item: 527944 PDF: B5639-S024 (WOR). Date of Birth: 20/04/1896 at Chatham, ON. Son of  James Andrew and Catherine (nee Carney) 1858 – 1906 Liddy of R. R. #3, Chatham, Kent Co., ON., (1854-1938). Also Next of Kin. The brother of Katherine Elizabeth Sharp, the wife of Frank of R.R.3, Box 48, Howell, Michigan, USA., also a brother of Joseph John Liddy (3136739), Leo (1898 and half-brother Fred Fred.  A single car repairman.

Attestation: 12/01/1918 at London, ON. 21 years, 8 months, height: 5’ 6”, Comp:- fair, Eyes: Blue, Hair:-Brown. To 52nd Batt. (Manitoba Regt. Medical 12/01/1918 at London, ON.    

Sailed from Halifax NS. aboard the S.S. Scotian 27/01/18, arrived in England 6/02/18.

It was reported that he was admitted to the CDN General Hospital at Bear Wood 26/03/18 from the 4th Reserve Batt. complaining of abdominal pain. He was treated for Appendicitis and discharged  5/04/18 

Harry was TOS (Taken On Strength) at Branshot 6/02/18. Transferred to 4th Reserve Batt. 10/05/18. Transferred to 47th Batt. 19/08/18. Arrived in France 20/08/18 to 52nd Batt.

From Tim Cooks book “Shock Troops” – “On the Cambria Front …. Pg.543 ‘one of the final set-piece engagement woud be made by the 3rd and 4th Divisions. The elite 9th Brigade, which had proven itself during some of the hardest fighting to the west of Cambria, was now shifted slightly to the north of the city to attack around it in a wheeling formation to avoid the enemy shrontpoints that were facing west. Passing through the 7th Brigade, the 43rd and 52nd Battalions attacked at 5:10 A.M. on October 1, following their barrage around the city and clearing out a series of German trenches.”

 It would have been sometime that day that Harry would have fallen dead.      

KIA while serving with the 52nd Batt. 1/10/18  or 13/10/18.Buried at Crest Cemetery – Nord, France.
