DOB 9/01/19 at Chatham. Son of Thaddeus “Thad” Charles and Edythe Lyle Lenover, of Northwood, Harwich Twsp., Ontario, Canada. Brother of P/O Robert M. Sgt. Lenover went overseas in October of 1941 as a wireless air gunner attached to the “Demon Squadron”. He was reported as MIA (Missing In Action in the CDN 17/02/16.) The CDN 14/10/42 (P), reported that Sgt. W. B. Lenover “listed on the RCAF casualty roles this morning for official purposes, presumed dead”.
William enlisted with the RCAF 25 November, 1940.,at Windsor, ON. Sgt. Lenover went overseas in October of 1941 as a wireless air gunner attached to the “Demon Squadron”. He was reported as MIA (Missing In Action) in the CDN 17/02/42. The CDN 14/10/42 (P), reported that Sgt. W. B. Lenover “listed on the RCAF casualty roles this morning for official purposes, presumed dead”.
Age: 23, KIA – Date of Death: 12/02/1942, in Hudson bomber # AM 598 armed with 4 x 250 lb. bombs were lost in action with German battleship escort vessels in the English Channel that were escorting the Battleships Sharnhorst and Gneisenau, three other crew members where also killed.

Memorial: RUNNYMEDE MEMORIAL.
It was reported in the CDN 16/02/43, that a memorial service was held at the Zion United Church. At the request of the family, the service was of a private nature, only the friend of the immediate community being present. The Sgt. was KIA a year ago.
