Born in Chatham, ON., 13/09/1920 the son of James Albert and Mable Annie Lenover of 122 Lacroix St., Chatham, Ontario. The brother of Charles (RCAF) and Gerald (Army). Husband of Dorothy (nee Putman) , father of Brenda, Mary Lou, Richard and Ann, living at 122 Lacroix St., Chatham, ON.  Address at Enlistment:  122 Lacroix Street, Chatham.  Date of Enlistment:  1941.  Place of Enlistment:  Windsor, Ontario.

It was reported in the CDN 18/05/42 that Dorothy was departing Chatham for St. Hyacinthe, PQ to spend a couple of weeks with her husband who was stationed there. It was reported that Walter had passed his Signaller course in Quebec. CDN 18/06/42 

Walter enlisted 1941. He served with Navy three years and ten months. Overseas most of the time on Convoy duty.  It was reported that Walter was spending a short furlough in March of 1942 and was returning to St. Hyacinthe, PQ. for further training. CDN 26/03/42. He served on Destroyers HMCS Saguenay and HMCS Kootenay in the North Atlantic. He saw action in the Bay of Biscay and during D-Day invasion aboard HMCS Kootenay. He spent three months in the English Channel after the invasion.  The CDN 1/10/44 reported that Sgn, Lenover was serving aboard HMCS Kootenay during the Normandy invasion in June. The Kootaney had reached a Canadian port and the crew could expect a furlough to visit home.  Walter was reported returning home on furlough in October 1944.  CDN 2/10/44. He was discharged from the Navy on September 19th, 1945.

After the war Walter managed the wrapping and cutting departments at Lenover Brothers Ltd., in Chatham. He enjoyed the Pioneer Line Euchre Club.

Walter was 92 on 23 September 2012 when he passed away.
